Library and Information Centre of GFGC Tumkur is
one of the best and well known for electronic library among Government First
Grade Colleges in the state
The library has amazingly rich collection contains
dictionaries, Encyclopedia, Biographies and autobiographies, Novels, Stories,
Great Epics, Poetries, Dramas, Maps, Globes, Atlas And General Books,
Competitive Books, NET/SLET books.
At Library and Information Center of GFGC Tumakuru, we
have also providing reading room facilities by Newspaper,Magazines and Journals
to our stake holders with the aim of providing required information to the every reader.
The
library has total collection books is 31108 Volumes, (including reference Books, Text
Books, Dictionaries, Encyclopaedias, Handbooks & etc.,. library has
subscribe 15 DailyNews
Papers, 02 Weekly Magazines, 18 Monthly (General, Subject,
Competitive)Magazine/ Many thousands of E-Journals are
facilitate under ONOS which is provided by Govt
of India for Student and Teaching Community.
Library Automation
The library is automated using NewGenLib as library Management Software Database and its version is 3.1.1. The library is partially computerized with Barcode System and OPAC (Online Public Access Catalogue) facility. Routine activities including like circulation (issue, return, renewal and reservation), accession and technical processing are computerized. Further, the library has two computers for the benefit of the students and the staff. Computers with internet connection facility have been provided for browsing and also ICT facility is available for free open access to e-books, e-journals and other e-resources and OPAC (Online Public Access Catalogue) facility.
